As part of Daniel’s Moving & Storage extensive service package, the Special Products and Commercial Truckload Divisions are industry leaders in their ability to move sensitive goods. With a Specialized Transportation trailer fleet exceeding 342 units, this is one of the most extensive fleets in the industry.
Each unit is equipped with air-ride suspension and Qualcomm satellite tracking devices. Depending upon your needs the 48 and 53 foot trailers provided can be equipped with environmental control units, 6000 pound capacity lift gates and an assortment of on board material handling and cargo control equipment.
These fleets are under separate operational dispatch so we can handle not only sensitive loads, but also sensitive transit times. The average SPD operator has 13 years of experience, has at least 2 years experience in handling and hauling special products prior to joining the SPD fleet and has gone through extensive screening and training processes. Our SPD operators are professionals and have committed themselves to the same high standard of safety, customer service and quality that has been the guiding force of Daniel’s Moving and Storage.
The products that travel on our Specialized Transportation fleet vary in size and description. Generally these are high value products ranging from computer and medical equipment to machinery equipment and new furniture. If your product requires air-ride transportation, inside pick up or inside delivery, if you want to limit your packaging expenses or need a dependable, traceable form of surface transportation, our SPD fleet is for you.
Individual shipments weighing under 3000 pounds requiring this type of specialized service travel through what we call the ASTEC system. ASTEC, the Atlas Specialized Transportation Express Centers is a group of agents within our nationwide system that are equipped to handle these smaller shipments within prescribed time limits. Pick-ups are made within 24 hours of registration or upon customer request. Deliveries are accomplished within 48 hours of arrival to an ASTEC facility or upon customer request.
