Lakeside

Finding a sliver of green in a sea of highways and buildings may seem impossible.

Not for Raleigh!

The Raleigh/Durham area is filled with parks for people to enjoy.  There are plenty of places where you can stretch your legs and get in touch with nature. Trade those tall buildings for soaring tree branches. Listen to a babbling brook instead of honking car horns.

You don’t even have to venture far to get a little slice of paradise.  Visit the WRAL Azalea Garden, especially in the spring, and marvel at the beauty of the flowers.  If you would rather run than saunter, head to the Neuse River Trail.  This paved trail is perfect for a jog or even cycling. It connects with the Mountains-to-Sea Trail, so you could go from the Smoky Mountains all the way to the Outer Banks.

History and nature collide at the Historic Yates Mill Country Park.  Enjoy nice walking paths while learning about the mill. Travel a little northwest and discover a hidden gem just off of I-40. Lake Johnson Park is a perfect place to stretch your legs after a long car ride or a week sitting in the office. It offers boating, fishing, hiking, jogging, and biking. The hilly areas are sure to give you a workout!
